Smash Book Challenge Day 20

Wow, how exciting, we are powering through the pages. Nearly 3 weeks of Smashing and I am so inspired with the pages that have been shared.

The page today is "something you miss". I miss a lot of things, having just moved over 2000km 6 months ago. I miss my old friends, being able to drop in for a coffee, the gorgeous fresh food store with their gourmet goodies, the scrapbooking store and their Friday night crops, the closeness to the city for shopping and much more.

I noticed this photo on Instagram by scrapbag . Emma owns Ballarat Patchwork, which used to be my local store. I miss being able to wander in there and look at all the gorgeous bright fabrics.

I miss Emma's lovely welcomes and the jokes she made with my kids. I almost miss the dent in my credit card too...

  1. Oh, you've just inspired me to smash a page about Dawson City! I've been meaning to for a while, just haven't got around to it. I lived there a few years ago and I miss it sooooooo much! Everything, the book store, the boardwalks, the river, the tourists in the summer, the coffee shop, even the -30 degree weather in the winter is bearable with the right people!

I meant to write back about how we're "supposed" to smash, haha! What I meant was that when I started, I read the first page that comes in the book and watched the youtube video K&Co put out, and just stuck stuff in willy nilly, like in the video, and I really enjoyed the freedom of the whole process. After a while, though, I started overthinking it, and now it's starting to feel like scrapbooking, which would be okay if I wasn't already scrapbooking regularly anyway. Hmmmm, not sure that makes sense at all! Of course, smashing can be whatever you want it to be, but for me I like how it started out as "different" from what I was already doing, and now it kind of feels the "same". So, I need to get that spontaneous feeling back. Let's see if I can do it! Hugs, Roxy.

P.S. Love this page, Love the little twine banner and yellow letter stickers!!!

    1. Aww thanks Roxy! Yes I haven't scrapbooked in a while, so this journal is kind of like dipping my toe in again. I have another smash journal that I would like to collect inspiring pictures in, like colour combos, trinkets etc. So I guess once I have finished this challenge I will start exploring Smash journals the way they are supposed to be. I saw a video on Youtube with smash journaling using catalogues and I really want t o get my hands on some anthropologie catalogues. Ebay I guess, they don't send them here to Australia.

At the moment the loose page of scrapbooking intimidates me. Silly I know. One step at a time though, it's been 2 years since I scrapped traditionally.
